Our Organization

Western Illinois Animal Rescue (WIAR) was founded in 2000 by a group of caring citizens from Warren County who wanted to help animals in need. WIAR is a "NO KILL" organization. We do not euthanize any of the animals in our care unless it is medically our only option. We are 100% volunteer operated.

Western Illinois Animal Rescue is currently located at 300 W Harlem in Monmouth, IL. We are operating out of our temporary shelter at the moment but have accumulated the funds for our new building that will be located at the same address.  Viewing times are from 8-5 Monday through Friday or by appointment. In addition to the animals we have on site, we have a strong relationship with the Warren County Animal Shelter, which is a kill facility, and have cats and kittens available for adoption at Monmouth Small Animal Hospital and Thorns Pet Supplies in Galesburg. We work in conjunction with the community, City and County animal contol, and Monmouth Small Animal Hospital to help animals in need. We have great community support and it is because of them our new building is scheduled to break ground in spring 2017.
