Adoption

Adoption Process

If you wish to adopt an animal from WIAR please follow these steps:

  1. See what animals are up for adoption:
    • Check out the Available for Adoption section of Pets in Care
    • Browse through recent posts on the WIAR Facebook page
    • Message us for a list.
If you are interested in a specific animal, please contact WIAR for more information on regarding their situation.
  2. Set up an appointment to meet the animal you wish to adopt.
  3. Fill out an Adoption Application and return to the WIAR Rescue, fax 309-715-7169 or Email to wiarrescue@yahoo.com, Monmouth Small Animal Hospital.
  4. We will then review your application and contact you as soon as possible regarding your adoption.

Please keep in mind that while our goal is to find homes for all of our animals, some situations may not be the best for individual animals. WIAR wants every animal to be as happy and healthy as it can possibly be and we place animals in the situations we feel they would thrive in. Please work with us to ensure you are adopting the animal that would be the best match for you and your home.

All of your help is greatly appreciated!

In some cases, WIAR will work with people who, for whatever reason, cannot meet all of our adoption standards. Exceptions can be made based on the individual situation if the person wishing to adopt can provide a safe and loving home for the animal. There may be additional paperwork or home visits required in these situations. If you have any concerns with meeting our adoption standards, please feel free to contact us so we can work together throughout this process.
